Salon Wale (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website www.salonwale.in — a salon discovery and directory platform. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

We collect only what we need to deliver the service:

• Account data — name, email address, phone number, and password hash when you register.
• Location data — city/GPS coordinates only when you grant browser permission (“Near Me” feature). This is processed client-side and not stored on our servers.
• Salon listing data — for salon owners: business name, address, photos, services, and pricing.
• Usage data — pages visited, search queries, and device/browser type, collected via server logs and analytics.
• Communication data — messages you send us via the contact form.

• To display nearby salons and personalise search results.
• To create and manage your user or salon-owner account.
• To send transactional notifications (OTP, booking updates).
• To respond to your enquiries and support requests.
• To prevent fraud and maintain platform security.
• To improve the platform based on aggregate analytics.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Cloudinary — image hosting for salon photos.
• Resend / SMTP — transactional email delivery.
• MSG91 — OTP / SMS delivery for phone verification.
• ipapi.co — IP-based city detection (no personal data stored).
• Railway / Supabase — cloud infrastructure for our database.

Each provider is subject to their own privacy policy and GDPR/applicable data protection law.

We use browser localStorage to cache your detected city and GPS location locally on your device (not sent to our servers). This cache expires after 1 hour.

We may use session cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Salon listing data is retained until the salon owner requests removal or the listing is unpublished.

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erase your data (right to be forgotten).
• Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.
• Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf.

Salon Wale is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Database access is restricted to authorised services only. We perform regular security reviews of our infrastructure.

We may update this policy periodically. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
